The child, frights and falters,
At tender first step;
Cries sharp and loud,
Bewildered and broken;
And often bleeding at deep cut,
Right on nose and teeth;
Rises again,
To reach for fondling of mother;
There for witnessing, the child
to grow;
Through trials and errors;
The bubbling baby, rather crawls,
To reach;
The darling mother tempts and
toys,
Instills and stirs;
By winking and blinking;
The child cackles and cries,
Again to rise and stand;
Walks quicker to the post.
Slowly and steadily starts
walking,
Then runs and runs the long run
of success.
How the first step led to,
The long and high race to attain;
And stealthily and secretly,
Becomes,
The man of the world;
The daring first step,
May remain unnoticed and
forgotten;
But would never, lose its worth;
To make one, man amongst men of
his kind;
The pains taken of first step,
Permanently places into pleasant
paradise.
