DEVOTION TO DUTY AND DEITY

I saw, the people;
Sublime devout, devoted to deities;
Without a miss,
Chanting and reciting, the divine verses;
Regular visit, to the temple,
Church, mosque and monasteries;
With huge, hues and cries;
Celebrate, pompous religious ceremonies;
The holy scriptures, and religious texts,
Are read aloud;
To get, all the boons and blessings;
Even painful pilgrimage, joyfully, are journeyed;
With hope and happiness,
They do, charity at large, for their dear deities;
All moves, and mechanism,
Even of, daily life,
Are ever, solemnized and saturated;
By auspicious, and devotional deeds;
Even they, often observe,
Prolonged fast, with all fervor, and fortitude;
With fragrance of flowers, and incense;
Light lamp and bow, to deity’s shrine at home.
Such connived, and conceited fellows,
With exuberant, and frantic narcissus notions;
Like overdose drunkard,
Dramatically damage, the public peace;
For the false and futile,
Pursuit of, prestige and power;
They do demonstrate, utter nuisance;
Without a bit, remorse and repent;
One’s duty, to such deities,
May not hinder, the duty, of a man to the man;
Why such braggarts,
Prostrate to, divine deities;
And shamelessly, relentlessly,
Falter puerile and powerless before public causes;
Our duty, to the man and mankind;
To our lovers, and relatives,
And, to our neighbors and natives,
Is great and supreme, than else.
To show gratitude, to the almighty,
May not harm,
But encumbered in, superstitions and rotten rituals,
May blockade hugely,
Path of progress, and harmony of humanity.
